I was looking at a panel a friend of mine prepared for his MFIAP submission, Gabriel O’Shaughnessey and was fascinated by his shots of old  abandoned houses. So I decided that the next opportunity, I would give it a go. Last weekend I was in Macroom  in west Cost and had accesss to an old abandoned shop so these are my first attempt…..  Two of the images are HDR, the rest are straight single shots. The black & White processing was done in Silver Efex Pro 2. Apart for the picture that appears in a number ofthe shots, everything else was in the shop and I did a little re-arranging to suit compositions. There was not a lot left of the shop itself, just the old cigarette cabinet.

I’ve been out on the Monday night trips with the camera club and to say the least, the weather has not been kind to us. Most nights have meant the conditions have been “challenging” in terms of light and conditions. I have a few images that I processed using Nik Software HDR Pro. One from Howth (where the light was good ironically) and 2 from Ballinafagh where the light was dull and overcast. One image is of a church just outside Ardclough – its the burial site of Arthur Guinness. All the images are generated from multiple exposures, and the black & white  conversions were done with Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 The image with the church is a work in progress, I need to get rid of the artifacts in the window
